Athletic Trainer would be expected to:Attend home athletic contests and practices as scheduled.Evaluate injuries, provide first aid to athletes and determine fitness to return to playPlan and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Perform administrative tasks, such as writing reports and instructions.Develop and maintain inventory of athletic training suppliesApply tape, bandages, and braces to protect or prevent injuries prior to events.Collaborate with school nurses and develop outreach to local healthcare facilities.Varied hours: Monday-Friday starting at 2:30pm. End time will be determined by director of athletics and game/practice schedules. Weekends to be determined by game and practice schedule.Candidates must have:A baccalaureate or higher degree from a program accredited by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Commission on Accreditation on Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) or the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).Strength and conditioning certification a plusCurrent CPR and First Aid trainingPosition is subject to Civil Service rules and regulations. Persons appointed provisionally must take the Nassau County Civil Service Athletic Trainer test once it is offered and be reachable for probationary appointment.
