The successful candidate will join a highly motivated team in one of the most linguistically and culturally diverse high achieving district in Nassau County. We seek an outstanding collaborator with experience working with students, parents and school staff to solve problems by communicating, counseling and providing referrals to other resources.SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:Remain readily available to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding and maturity. Counseling may be provided to a student individually or in a small group setting, during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impending student success. Guide students in their participation in school and community activities.Maintain student records and protect their confidentiality.Supervise the preparation and processing of college, scholarship and employment applications (high school).Guide students and families during the college admissions process and scholarship search (high school).Work with students in evolving education and occupation plans assessing student abilities, interests and achievement to help them make decisions about their future.Member of the building team committed to advancing equitable academic, career and social/emotional development for all.Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child’s program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home.Assist students with academic planning and scheduling.Maintain student transcripts to ensure accuracy of graduation requirements.
