Harborfields Central School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Permanent Substitute Teacher for Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School. The Permanent Substitute Teacher will report to Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School each school day and provide instructional coverage based on the needs of the building. This position requires flexibility, strong classroom management skills, and a genuine interest in supporting elementary school students. Responsibilities • Report to Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School each school day • Provide classroom coverage as assigned by the building administration • Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher • Maintain established classroom routines, expectations, and procedures • Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment • Provide age appropriate academic and behavioral support • Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and transitions • Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, service providers, administrators, and other staff • Maintain student confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures • Provide the classroom teacher with a brief summary of the day, including completed work and any significant concerns Qualifications • New York State Education Department teacher certification required • Experience working with elementary age children preferred • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff • Dependability, flexibility, patience, and professionalism • Valid New York State fingerprint clearance required Application Process Interested candidates should submit the following through OLAS to Mr. Milton Josephs - Executive director of Human Resources: • Letter of interest • Current résumé Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
