The Harborfields Central School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Teaching Assistant – Special Education to support students with disabilities in a variety of instructional settings. Teaching Assistants work under the direction of a certified teacher to help students access instruction, participate meaningfully in the school environment, and develop academic, social, behavioral, and functional skills. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support students in classroom, small-group, and individual settings Assist with the implementation of instructional activities and lesson plans Provide support aligned with students’ IEPs Assist with behavior support, supervision, and student engagement Help maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and positive learning environment Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and administrators Support students in developing independence, confidence, and appropriate school routines Qualifications: Valid New York State Education Department Teaching Assistant certification or New York State classroom teaching certification required Experience working with students with disabilities preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, flexibility, reliability, and a genuine commitment to supporting students Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school-based team Application Instructions: Qualified candidates must apply through OLAS and submit a resume and cover letter addressed to: Milton JosephsExecutive Director of Human Resources Equal Opportunity Statement Harborfields Central School District is committed to building a diverse and inclusive educational community.
