Position Description: The Harborfields Central School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered English Language Arts Teacher to join the instructional team at Oldfield Middle School beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love of reading and writing in middle school students. Oldfield Middle School is dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where students are challenged academically while developing the skills necessary to become thoughtful, engaged learners. The ideal candidate will be able to design engaging lessons that support diverse learners and promote collaboration, creativity, and communication. Responsibilities include: Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards Develop lessons that build students’ reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary, and critical analysis Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress Foster a classroom environment that encourages student voice, collaboration, and respect Integrate technology and varied instructional strategies to enhance learning Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to support student success Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and learning goals Qualifications: Valid New York State Certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7–12) required Strong knowledge of middle school literacy development and instructional strategies Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate middle school learners Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred: Experience teaching middle school English Language Arts Experience differentiating instruction and supporting diverse learning needs Application Procedure: Interested candidates should apply through OLAS (Online Application System) and submit the following materials: Cover Letter Resume NYS Certification to: Mr. Milton Josephs, Executive Director of Human Resources, Harborfields Central School District.
