DescriptionThe Harborfields Central School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School English Teacher to join the instructional team at Harborfields High School, effective 2026-2027 school year. This is a probationary, tenure-track position.The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and reflective educator with a strong commitment to secondary English Language Arts instruction, student voice, and academic excellence. Harborfields High School values collaboration, inclusive practices, and continuous professional growth, and fosters a learning environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and respectful discourse.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Plan and deliver instruction aligned to the New York State Next Generation English Language Arts StandardsPrepare students for the New York State Regents Examination in English Language ArtsDesign and implement engaging lessons that promote reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skillsFoster student voice, inquiry, and meaningful discussion through literature and writingDifferentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with disabilities and English Language LearnersUse formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional planning and monitor student growthCollaborate with department colleagues and interdisciplinary teams to support literacy across content areasEstablish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environmentSupport positive student behavior using developmentally appropriate classroom management strategiesParticipate in professional learning communities, department meetings, and ongoing professional developmentContribute to a positive school climate and support school-wide initiativesFulfill all duties in accordance with district policies, contractual obligations, and New York State regulationsQualificationsValid New York State Education Department certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7–12) requiredStrong content knowledge in literature, writing instruction, and media literacyExperience working with high school students in a rigorous academic setting preferredAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and familiesStrong organizational, technical, communication, and classroom management skillsApplication InstructionsQualified candidates must apply through OLAS only and submit a resume, cover letter addressed to Milton Josephs, Executive Director of Human Resources, and proof of New York State certification.To find out more about working at Harborfields CSD, copy and paste this link into your browser: https://youtu.be/howVxpZWi2YEqual Opportunity StatementHarborfields Central School District is committed to building a diverse and inclusive educational community.
