DescriptionThe Harborfields Central School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Earth Science Teacher to join the instructional team at the secondary level, beginning 2026-2027 school year. This is a probationary, tenure-track position.The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and reflective educator with a strong commitment to secondary science education, inquiry-based instructional practices, and the academic, social, and emotional development of students. Harborfields CSD values collaboration, inclusive practices, and continuous professional growth.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Plan and deliver instruction aligned to the New York State Learning Standards for Earth and Space SciencesPrepare students for the New York State Regents Earth Science examination, including laboratory requirementsImplement inquiry-based, hands-on laboratory investigations and field-based learning experiences, as appropriateEstablish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom and laboratory environmentDifferentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with disabilities and English Language LearnersUse formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional planning and targeted supportsCollaborate with science department colleagues and Pupil Personnel Services staffCommunicate effectively and professionally with families regarding student progress and well-beingSupport positive student behavior using developmentally appropriate classroom management strategiesParticipate in professional learning communities, department meetings, and ongoing professional developmentContribute to a positive school climate and support school-wide initiativesFulfill all duties in accordance with district policies, contractual obligations, and New York State regulationsQualificationsValid New York State Education Department certification in Earth Science (Grades 7–12) requiredMultiple certifications are preferredStrong content knowledge in Earth and Space SciencesExperience preparing students for Regents-level coursework and laboratory assessments preferredAbility to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and familiesStrong organizational, technical, and communication skillsApplication InstructionsQualified candidates must apply through OLAS only and submit a resume, cover letter addressed to Milton Josephs, Executive Director of Human Resources, and proof of New York State certification.To find out more about working at Harborfields CSD, copy and paste this link into your browser: https://youtu.be/howVxpZWi2YHarborfields Central School District is committed to building a diverse and inclusive educational community.
