Physical Education/Health Teacher Full-Time | July 2026 Start Harmony Heights School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Physical Education/Health Teacher to join our team beginning July 2026. Harmony Heights is a 12-month special education therapy school located in East Norwich, NY on Long Island, serving adolescent girls in grades 8 through 12 with emotional difficulties. Our program provides a supportive, therapeutic, and academically focused environment that promotes student growth, wellness, and success. The position includes participation in our 6-week summer school program. Schedule Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for multidisciplinary staff meeting Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging Physical Education and Health curriculum aligned with New York State standards Promote physical fitness, wellness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment Differentiate instruction to meet the social, emotional, and educational needs of students Collaborate with clinical staff, teachers, administrators, and families to support student progress Maintain appropriate documentation, assessments, and student records Participate in school meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities Qualifications New York State Certification in Physical Education and/or Health Education required Experience working with adolescents preferred Experience in special education or therapeutic settings strongly preferred Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to foster positive relationships with students and staff Crisis Intervention Prevention Trained a plus We Offer Supportive and collaborative work environment Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in students’ lives Competitive salary.
