The District educates approximately 950 students, with James I. O'Neill High School serving about 400 students in grades 9-12 in a supportive, student-centered learning community.Position OverviewThe District is seeking a dynamic, student centered, and collaborative leader to serve as a Principal of James I. O'Neill High School. The successful candidate will be an experienced high school administrator who demonstrates strong instructional leadership, operational effectiveness, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the broader community.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructional LeadershipUse data-informed decision-making to improve teaching and learning outcomesPromote effective instructional practices and provide meaningful feedback to educatorsFoster a culture of high expectations, student engagement, and continuous improvementSchool OperationsOversee daily operations, including scheduling, supervision, safety, and student disciplineCollaborate with the business office on budget planning and resource managementEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and district policiesMaintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environmentPersonnel and Professional DevelopmentRecruit, supervise, support, and evaluate staffImplement APPR processes and support ongoing professional growthFoster a collaborative and respectful professional cultureStudent Support and School ClimatePromote a positive school climate and strong relationshipsCollaborate with counselors, social workers, psychologists, and support staffUphold the Code of Conduct in a fair, consistent, and restorative mannerFamily and Community EngagementBuild strong partnerships with families and community stakeholdersRepresent the school at Board of Education meetings and community eventsRequired QualificationsValid New York State Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certificationMaster's degree in Education or related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experienceMinimum of three (3) years of building-level administrative experience (high school preferred)NYSED fingerprint clearancePreferred QualificationsExperience with restorative practices and approaches to student discipline and school cultureDemonstrated knowledge of AI, educational technology, and digital innovation to support instruction and school operationsProven leadership skills with the ability to guide change, build trust, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholdersCommitment to elevating student voice, leadership development, and inclusive school decision-makingProven ability to lead the development of a master schedule through collaboration with staff and administrators to support instructional coherence, student needs, and operational efficiency.Application ProcessPlease submit a cover letter, resume, references and proof of certification for consideration.Salary is commensurate with experience.
