HFM BOCES PTECH is accepting applications for an open position for a 10-month plus twenty days, full-time, tenure track School Counselor or Special Education teacher. The position will be located at our ninth and tenth grade building in Johnstown or at the FMCC college campus. The position is unique and will offer the successful candidate a rewarding experience working with high school students in an early college high school program. The candidate will work directly with students and staff, supports the creation and execution of the master schedule; provides counseling support to students in small groups and individually, acts as an advocate and advisor to students in the selection and registration in college courses, maintains regular and open communication with high school teachers and college professors. Acts as liaison between families and community agencies. The candidate for this position will have a small special education caseload and the candidate will need to provide special education accommodations, assist with helping students sign up for accommodations at the college, and collaboration with ACCES- VR. Job QualificationsValid NYS Certification as a School Counselor or Special Education Teacher required.TEACH ClearancePer Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
