The HFM BOCES School Library System has an opening for a part-time (.6) School System Library Media Specialist. The is a 10-month position with up to 10 days in the summer, if needed, with supervisor approval. Anticipated start month is September, 2023.Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:- Provide library services and assistance to component schools and internal programs.- Provide training in the use of existing or emerging technologies.- Provide reference and consultation services for system libraries.- Assist the professional development, committee activities, and advocacy efforts.- Work both independently and collaboratively with classroom teachers and school library media specialists.- Promote and train in the use of the multimedia collection.- Other responsibilities as assigned. The successful candidate is a service-oriented, intellectually curious teacher-librarian to help advance the information and media literacy and diversity, equity and inclusion goals of out SLS community. This candidate is future-oriented, motivated, well organized, creative and enthusiastic. All applicants must hold, be eligible for, or be working on a NYS certification as a School Library Media Specialist. Experience in as school system with instructional technologies and library automation is preferred.
