New York State Teachers’ Standards are included in Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for ProfessionalPractice and address seven major categories of teacher’s performance.1. Knowledge of Students and Student Learning2. Knowledge of Content and Instructional Planning3. Instructional Practice4. Learning Environment5. Assessment for Student Learning6. Professional Responsibilities and Collaboration7. Professional GrowthPerformance indicators are provided for each of the Standards and form the basis of the teacher evaluation. Theteacher evaluation addresses whether the individual meets the expectation, needs improvement, or does not meetthe expectation.All behaviors and matters related to the assigned student’s behavior and progress are confidential and protectedunder the federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and may only be shared with theclassroom teacher and appropriate therapists with administration approval.QUALIFICATIONS:The Teacher shall:1. Hold New York State Teacher’s Certification.2. Have ability to relate to and work with children with disabilities.3. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.4. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff,administration, parents, and the community.5. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using propergrammar and vocabulary.6. Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 incompliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.7. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and fingerprint clearance hasbeen given by the Department of Education.8. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonableaccommodation applicable to New York State laws.9. Pass the State required Tuberculin Test prior to start date.10. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable.EMPLOYMENT TERMS:The Teacher shall be employed under the following terms:1. Work year of ten months (181 days) with summer per diem work as available.2. Salary and conditions of employment specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.3. Conditions established by Federal and State laws and regulations, as well as The Hallen School policiesand procedures.JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Teacher shall:1. Meet expectations for each of the performance indicators addressed in the New York State TeacherStandards (i.e. Danielson’s Framework).2. Establish and maintain a positive, respectful and supportive relationship with assigned student, allstudents, and staff.3. Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.4. Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings.5. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire andgrooming, and effective work ethic.6. Display ethical behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agenciesassociated with the school.7. De-personalize students’ inappropriate behaviors especially when directed toward you.8. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising responsibilities and dutiesand disclose such information within legal confines with prior approval of administration.9. Adhere to all applicable Federal and New York State Board of Education rules and regulations and TheHallen School policies and procedures.10. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned bysupervisor and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
