Position: Assistant Bus Dispatcher Location: Transportation Hours: M-TH: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm; F: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; 12 months Effective: Immediately Salary: In accordance with existing salary schedule Duties: Assists in the daily assignments for bus drivers and attendants and maintains attendance recordsCoordinates the arrangement of vehicles, drivers, and attendants to properly follow busing schedulesPlans, schedules, and assigns drivers for special transportation, such as field tripsMaintains and updates daily dispatch sheetsHandles inquiries from parents, students, and staffAssists with 19A Examiner and School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) duties relating to staff records, departmental files, medical requirements and training classes.Operates a school bus or acts as a bus attendant, as needed Maintains daily payroll Minimum Training and Experience: Graduation from high school and one year of satisfactory bus driving and/or motor vehicle dispatching experience. Mandatory Special Requirements: Candidates must meet all requirements of Article 19-A of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law and the School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the NYS Commissioner of Education. Note: Section 156.3 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education states, in part, that all drivers of school transportation conveyances shall be at least 21 years of age.
