Position The Greenburgh Central School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Special Education Teacher (Grades 7–12) who is committed to providing high-quality, individualized instruction and ensuring equitable access to learning for students with disabilities. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School District, Greenburgh is dedicated to developing knowledgeable, caring, and globally minded students while fostering academic excellence, inclusion, and student success. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities through a combination of Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT), Resource Room, and other special education services as assigned. The teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), promote student independence, and support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth. Duties The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Deliver differentiated, standards-based instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards through Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT), Resource Room, and other assigned special education services. Modify curriculum, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments to meet the individualized needs of students with disabilities. Develop and implement engaging, evidence-based instructional strategies utilizing educational and assistive technology to promote academic achievement, critical thinking, independence, and student engagement. Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA, NYSED regulations, and district procedures. Collect and analyze student performance data to monitor progress toward IEP goals, prepare progress reports, and inform instructional decisions. Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, Annual Reviews, Reevaluations, Manifestation Determination Reviews, and transition planning activities. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure consistent implementation of accommodations, modifications, and specialized instruction. Participate in co-planning and co-teaching to support inclusive educational practices and student success. Foster students' executive functioning, organization, self-advocacy, social-emotional development, and positive behavioral skills. Establish and maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and academically supportive learning environment through effective classroom management and positive behavioral interventions. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, service delivery, confidential records, and all required special education compliance documentation. Participate in professional learning, department meetings, MTSS/PPC meetings, faculty meetings, and district professional development activities. Demonstrate professionalism, ethical decision-making, confidentiality, and effective communication with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Student Support Services. Qualifications Valid New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12). Experience providing special education services through Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT), Resource Room, or other inclusive instructional models preferred. Knowledge of IDEA, NYSED special education regulations, Committee on Special Education (CSE) processes, and IEP development and implementation. Experience differentiating instruction and modifying curriculum to meet diverse student learning needs. Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), evidence-based interventions, and positive behavioral supports. Experience using student assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions. Experience integrating educational technology and assistive technology into instruction. Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, culturally responsive practices, and student-centered learning. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and related service providers. Knowledge of International Baccalaureate philosophy and instructional practices preferred.
