Position The Greenburgh Central School District is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to support and empower our multilingual learners within a diverse and inclusive school community. The ENL Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality English language instruction, collaborating with professional colleagues, and implementing research-based, culturally responsive practices to facilitate students' development of English proficiency and their achievement of academic success. This is a 10-month position; duties and responsibilities are subject to change, and additional, related assignments may be required. Duties The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Deliver targeted English language instruction across all four modalities—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—to students at various proficiency levels, employing engaging, student-centered methodologies. Develop and implement differentiated, inquiry-based curricula aligned with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and WIDA expectations to promote both linguistic development and academic achievement. Employ effective pedagogical models, including sheltered instruction and co-teaching, to ensure equitable access to grade-level content for multilingual learners. Systematically assess and monitor student progress through both formal and informal evaluation methods, utilizing resulting data to inform instructional practice and facilitate continuous growth. Engage in close collaboration with general education teachers, special education professionals, and administrative staff to provide inclusive, culturally responsive instruction that addresses the diverse needs of all students. Cultivate a welcoming and affirming classroom and school climate that honors linguistic and cultural diversity and actively supports the success of multilingual learners and their families. Maintain meticulous records of student performance and required compliance documentation, and actively participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and family engagement initiatives. Contribute substantively to a positive and collegial school culture at Richard F. Bailey Elementary School through professional teamwork and a shared dedication to achieving student success. Qualifications Valid NYS certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual strongly encouraged to apply APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
