Position The Greenburgh Central School District is seeking conscientious, dependable, and highly motivated individuals to assume the role of Substitute Teaching Assistant across its schools. This position is integral to supporting student pedagogy by assisting classroom educators with instructional delivery, maintaining a secure, constructive, and stimulating classroom milieu, and ensuring students remain attentive and supported during the absence of the regular Teaching Assistant. Responsibilities encompass aiding instructional activities, assisting with classroom governance and student oversight, reinforcing behavioral protocols, and cultivating positive rapport with students and personnel. Substitute Teaching Assistants may also be required to complete concise daily reports to effectively communicate essential classroom information. The preferred candidate will exhibit professionalism, adaptability, the capacity to adhere to established directives, and a steadfast dedication to cultivating a supportive educational environment. Additional, related duties may be assigned as necessitated. Key Responsibilities Include: The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. Ensure the maintenance of a safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment. Offer support for classroom management and consistently enforce school regulations. Observe student conduct and address behavioral issues as they arise. Complete required daily reports or notes to effectively communicate classroom occurrences. Interact with teachers, staff, and students in a professional manner. Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma is required. Successful completion of the following workshops prior to employment: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention and Intervention, and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Fingerprinting clearance is mandatory. Demonstrated ability to adhere to written and verbal instructions. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational proficiencies. A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to submit an application. Prior classroom experience is preferred, but not required. APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
