This role involves ensuring compliance with due process laws and providing technical and professional assistance to staff, administration, parents, and other stakeholders.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Facilitates the Committee on Special Education (CSE) process, leading meetings and ensuring proper documentation and decision-making processes Assist the Director with the coordination of all annual review meetings, K-12 Assist and support the day-to-day management of CSE functions district wide Uphold legal requirements and IDEA regulations and NYSED Part 200 & 201 Assist in the compliance and submission of all NYS Special Education State Performance Plan requirements Partner with school personnel to facilitate students with disabilities' access to the state-approved general curriculum, promoting their education alongside non-disabled peers in the least restrictive environment to the maximum extent appropriate Monitor the delivery of special education programs and services to ensure compliance with legal guidelines and provide technical assistance, resources, and support as needed Engage special education and related service staff to ensure high quality programs and services are being provided pursuant to each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Assist families and providers through ongoing communication and support Assist the Director in the planning and implementation of staff development in-service training around all CSE responsibilities Monitor and assist providers with IEP writing, development, and implementation Demonstrate strong communication skills and leadership qualities to work effectively with all stakeholders Assist the Director in the preparation of reports and budgets Prepare and monitor STAC (System for Tracking & Accounting) and Medicaid reimbursement Consult with the Director, building principals, and special education staff on challenging or potentially litigious special education issues, offering expertise and guidance Assists the Director in the development and execution of special education grants, such as the 611 and 619 grants, to secure funding for special education programs Consult with building principals regarding special education student needs and emergency situations, offering guidance and support when necessary Assist the Director in routinely reviewing and auditing student IEPs to ensure compliance and make recommendations to the Director Assist the Director with completion of informal and formal staff observations and walkthroughs Coordinates home schooling and home instruction Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of PPS and Special Education Required Skills: Experience with chairing CSE meetings. Strong knowledge of IDEA, NYS regulations, and expertise in supporting students with diverse needs. Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to establish positive working relationships with others. Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Flexibility to travel between school sites throughout the district. Proficiency in using technology to facilitate communication and work completion.
