This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive district and play a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and performance of GCSD student-athletes.Position Summary:The Athletic Trainer will work under the general supervision of the District Physician and the Director of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics. This role is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries sustained by student-athletes participating in school sports programs. The Athletic Trainer also plays a key role in educating students, coaches, parents, and staff on injury prevention and overall health and wellness practices. The successful candidate will be tasked with the following key responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:Administer first aid, CPR, and coordinate emergency care and transportation when needed.Evaluate injuries and determine appropriate treatment plans, including decisions on athletic participation.Develop and implement injury prevention programs, including conditioning routines and safety checks.Educate student-athletes, families, coaches, and school personnel on injury care, prevention, and healthy practices.Maintain and monitor an inventory of athletic training supplies and equipment.Keep accurate and up-to-date records on physical exams, injury reports, and treatment plans.Communicate with coaches regarding the clearance or restriction of athletes following injury.Assist in scheduling and providing coverage for athletic events and practices.Adhere to protocols for injury treatment and rehabilitation in accordance with district policies.Collaborate with the Director of Health Services, school nurses, and athletics staff on student health matters.Uphold all Greenburgh Central School District policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned related to the care and safety of student-athletes.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or a related health field (Master’s preferred)Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA)Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in New York StateCurrent CPR/AED certificationMinimum of 2 years of experience in a school setting preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families
