Requirements are: Passing Score on the Assessment of Teaching Skills (ATAS) Exam Teaching Assistant Certification Education - High School Diploma or GED Workshop - Child Abuse Identification Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention Workshop - Training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying, and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention (DASA training) Fingerprint Clearance from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) The person in this position is responsible for assisting the teacher in creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction, such that students are able to access the curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aids, accommodations, and other needed support. Status of Position: Full-time Effective Date of Employment: April 7, 2025 (or until vacancies are filled) Last Day for Filing Application: Open until vacancies are filled Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Provide direct instructional support to students in a positive environment as developed by the classroom teacher. Model socially acceptable behavior, as determined by the students’ individualized education program (IEP) by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system. Establish rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students. Help students understand objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
