Reports to: PrincipalPrimary Function:To work closely and assist the other academy administrators in maximizing asafe wholesome environment for teaching and learning. To administer discipline to students who have committed infractions of the discipline code and to work collaboratively with them, their teachers, and parents in order to modify their behavior.Responsibilities:ADMINISTRATION AND SUPERVISIONTo provide leadership in the effective supervision and implementation of discipline to students and to supervise school monitors.STAFFTo ensure that student referrals are addressed in a timely manner.To develop and implement a plan for maintaining and improving student/teacherrelationships at acceptable levels.To ensure that staff adhere to all policies and procedures related to staff and students.To ensure all staff read and familiarize themselves with student FBAs and BIPs.STUDENTSTo ensure that student conduct is reviewed and evaluated.To develop and implement a behavioral plan for improving or maintaining studentconduct and safety at acceptable levels.To ensure that the student/teacher relationships in the academy are improved ormaintained at acceptable levels.PROGRAMTo maintain a positive climate which is conducive to teaching and learning.To ensure that restriction rooms and detention procedures are evaluated, reviewed andproposed.To provide leadership in the implementation of the school disciplinary code.To provide leadership in initiating innovative disciplinary strategies as well as reviseexiting procedures in order to maintain a safe, wholesome environment for teachingand learning.MANAGEMENTTo assist the Principal in managing the academy’s resources effectively and toprovide leadership in administration of the discipline code.To ensure that the operation of the academy and the utilization of resources aremonitored and evaluated.To develop a plan for improving or maintaining at acceptable levels the use of theacademy’s resources.To ensure that the academy's resources are used efficiently, effectively, and economically.COMMUNICATIONTo establish and maintain effective communication with staff, students,parents, and administrators.To ensure communication with all groups indicated is monitored and evaluated.To develop and implement a plan for improving or maintaining communication atacceptable levels.To ensure that communication is improved or maintained at acceptable levels based ona plan.Liaison between the Academy and the Agency if co-located on a St. Christopher’s, Inc.campus related to student behavior and other issues as determined by the principal.
