Galway Central School District currently has a vacancy for a School Business Administrator with a starting date of July 1, 2025. Applicants who have been selected for interviews will be contacted by the District.Minimum Requirements:New York State School Business Administrator (SBA) and/or School District Business Leader (SDBL) certification; demonstrated experience in the development and management of school budgets; experience with the oversight of capital projects; Demonstrated experience in labor relations and union negotiations; supervisory experience; demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communications, creative problem solving and strong interpersonal skills.Preferred Requirements:A minimum of five years of successful administrative experience in the field of school business and support services (including Transportation, Operations & Maintenance, and Food Service); proficiency with financial software; involvement in professional organizations; ability to establish and maintain relationships with local, state and federal officials, the NYS Education Department, and other relevant agencies.Reports to:Superintendent of SchoolsPurpose of Position:This position reports to the Superintendent and has overall responsibility for fiscal planning for the district, oversight of facilities management and support staff services, participates and/or leads labor management meetings and contract negotiations. He/she will work cooperatively with all other staff to ensure effective fiscal management and support staff services, achievement of District Goals, and implementation of Board of Education policies and directives.Key Functions:Fiscal Planning:Direct and support all financial planning and control including annual budget preparation and monitoring and long-term financial planning.Direct and support all Business Office operations.Maintain all necessary accounts and records, and provide for proper auditing procedures.Supervise all payroll operations and record-keeping.Oversee all benefits administration for the district.Assume responsibility for all state aid calculations and management.Assume responsibility for all purchasing functions.Manage the District’s insurance program.Prepare all necessary financial and statistical reports.Arrange all necessary contractual services.Provide fiscal direction and support for grant applications and monitoring.Direct and support the development and implementation of long-range plans for capital projects, bus replacements, and new construction.Facilities Management and Support ServicesDirect and support the Transportation Department.Direct and support the Food Service Program.Direct and support the Operations & Maintenance Department.Maintain a district-wide inventory of fixed assets.Direct and support the development and implementation of District health and safety procedures.Direct and support a district-wide preventative maintenance and equipment replacement schedule.Oversee and support the management of the district’s Capital Projects.Labor Management and Contract NegotiationsManage labor relations with CSEA and Management-Confidential groups.Assist in labor management issues for professional staff.Provide financial data and serve on District negotiating teams.Provide assistance and support in the hiring and assignment of support service personnel.Administer all provisions of District collective bargaining agreements.Evaluate Management-Confidential staff.Provide guidance and support for employee discipline and performance issues.AdministrationAttend and participate in District meetings, represent the District at appropriate state and local meetings, attend Board of Education meetings and workshops.Make recommendations to the Superintendent for modifications of Board policies related to fiscal matters and business office functions.Assist in building a learning community atmosphere – demonstrate mutual respect, collegiality, collaboration, celebration, shared leadership, and shared responsibility.Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.The Galway Central School District is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
