Job Description: Responsible for providing administrative and technical support of the information technology and telecommunication activities.Qualifications:*Must take and pass the relevant Glen Cove Civil Service examination when first offered and quality for placement on the “List of Eligibles”(A) Graduation from an accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree including or supplemented by twelve (12) credit hours in management information systems, computer science, information technology or closely related field and one (1) year experience in telecommunications, computer systems support, network administration, information systems management or computer programing; or (B) Graduation from High school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience as defined in (A); or An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B). NOTE: Successful completion of a three (3) credit hour course beyond the requirements in (A) in management information systems, computer science, information technology, or a closely related field may be substituted for three (3) months of appropriate experience.Fingerprinting clearance requiredEssential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Maintaining existing computer system applications, installation, configuration and maintain software and hardware and responding to the needs of end usersProvides on-site support services, which may include training, to operating department employeesDiagnoses and resolves hardware and software problems as assignedInstalls and maintains software on servers and computer workstationsUpgrades and maintains computer hardware, software, servers and peripheral equipmentInstalls and maintains printers and componentsAny other duties that may be assigned by the Coordinator of Instructional Technology and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology
