The Spire School Job Posting Occupational Therapist - Part -TimeThe Spire School, a private, special education day school for students in grades 7 through 12, seeks an Occupational Therapist for a part-time, school-based position (10-11 months). The Spire School in Stamford, CT, is actively recruiting for an Occupational Therapist with at least one to three years of experience with middle and high school age students. If the candidate has exposure and/or experience working in a special education, it is a significant plus.Spire is a State-Approved Special Education Program for students with social and/or emotional challenges that impact their ability to thrive in a typical academic setting. Our model of individualized social-emotional wellness plans and our small group academic setting (classes are typically no larger than 6:1, some are smaller) makes us unique, and 75-80% of our students are district-placed.Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type of differentiated instruction, writing/assessing IEP goals, and coaching students, then you are a candidate for this position. Our school has about 60 students enrolled and has a very strong, established team of leaders, teachers, and Life Coaches who collaborate for the common goal of having each student reach their full personal potential.The focus of Occupational Therapy program at The Spire School is to address students’ individual sensory and motor needs in order to improve their overall performance in the school setting and beyond. Our program focuses on sensory integration theory and praxis skill development in order to remediate critical foundational skills. The Occupational Therapist will primarily work with students individually, but sometimes in small groups, throughout the school day, and will have access to an office and/or the School’s fitness center, as needed.
