Greenwich Education Group's The Spire School is seeking a Full-time Physical Education Teacher.Spire is a State-Approved Special Education school, grades 7-12, for students with social and/or emotional challenges that impact the student's ability to thrive in a typical academic setting. Our model of individualized social-emotional wellness plans and our small group academic setting (classes are no more than 6:1, some are smaller) makes us unique, and 80% of our students are district-placed.Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type of differentiated instruction, writing IEPs, coaching students, and daily challenges then you are a candidate for this position. Our school has about 50 students enrolled and has a very strong, established team of leaders, teachers, and Life Coaches who collaborate for the common goal of having each child reach their full personal potential.Our PE teacher will:• Support and motivate our students and help them to develop physical abilities and healthy habits, physical fitness, hygienic habits, and encourage positive social and emotional adjustment• Discover and develop talents of pupils in physical achievement• Accommodate various learning styles, personality styles, and the need for physical movement of individual students based on their unique needs so all students are appropriately engaged and challenged• Develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil's ability• Instruct students and lead age-appropriate discussions about physical health and development.The successful Physical Education Teacher candidate will meet the following requirements:• Bachelor's (minimum) in Physical Education or related discipline• Holds or is eligible for a CT Physical Education certification required.
