Mission: We strive to give our clients support, resources, and the ability to heal through the work of animal-assisted therapy and nature-based learning all while developing the skills and confidence to grow into independent young adults.Role Overview: Green Chimneys School offers an enriched academic environment with a vast array of innovative programming, including life skills, music and art, therapeutic animal-assisted activities, and outdoor education, all based in experiential learning. The fully integrated approach to education at Green Chimneys includes Academics, Therapeutic Education, Clinical & Related Services, Animal & Nature programs, and Vocational Education. The Teacher Assistant provides a structured learning experience and atmosphere in the classrooms assigned. The Teacher's Assistant position is Monday through Friday, working either 7:30-3:30 pm or 8-4 pm depending on your preference. In this role, you will be working in a special education classroom with 12 students, 1 Teacher, and another Teacher Assistant. You will be the additional support to help manage classroom behaviors and provide structure throughout the school day. Other job responsibilities include taking your students to their program classes such as horse riding, and swimming, and working collaboratively with the education department. Being a Teacher Assistant at Green Chimneys is a rewarding experience helping individuals complete daily activities and achieve long-term goals.What you bring to Green Chimneys:Bachelors or Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education,or Special Education; or High School diploma with some years of education or related experience in childcare. Prefered skills include demonstrating the ability to teach, redirect behaviors, and manage a group of students.Hourly Range: $16.01 - $21.35 Depending on level of education.
