The Summer Teacher is responsible for teaching a self-contained, departmentalized class or program area during the summer. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: educating students, working collaboratively with other teachers, classroom TA’s and 1:1s, ensuring that students receive related services and accommodations as outlined in the I.E.P. Teachers are responsible for completing all necessary reports and documentation as per agency standards and must read, understand and comply with policies, procedures and expectations outlined in the school and agency handbook. Teachers are responsible for participating in all meetings and are expected to communicate with treatment teams, supervisors and families regularly. Green Chimneys offers an experiential learning environment and innovative nature-based approach that teachers can utilize to encourage success.This position is temporary for the summer and is not benefit eligible. The daily pay rate will be within the range of $172.50 to $199 per day dependent upon certification status. Successful candidates will be placed at either the Brewster or the Carmel locations.What you bring to Green Chimneys:Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in Education preferred. Prior field placement in Special Education preferred. NYSED Certification in appropriate area HIGHLY preferred.Must be available to begin from June 26th to August 11th 2023. The first week will include full 40 hours of training before starting in the summer class.
