Mission: We strive to give our clients support, resources, and the ability to heal through the work of animal-assisted therapy and nature-based learning all while developing the skills and confidence to grow into independent young adults.Role Overview: The Teacher Assistant for Woodshop provides a structured learning experience and a safe atmosphere in the classroom. He/She/They will assist the Teacher of Woodshop and supervise the children in the class throughout their time in the program. Specific duties and responsibilities will vary depending on projects and campus assignments. The Woodshop TA will be responsible for substituting when the primary Teacher of Woodshop is absent. What you bring to Green Chimneys: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Special Education and CTA Credential; or High School with several years of education experience. Demonstrated ability to teach and manage a class that includes children and adolescents of varying levels of skill and experience. Experience in use of woodshop machinery such as band saw, table saw, drill press etc. and ability to re-enforce safety regulations.
