The General Brown Central School District is seeking a qualified and student-focused Social Studies Teacher for grades 7–12. The successful candidate will provide engaging instruction in social studies content areas and support the academic and civic development of students at the Junior/Senior High School. Responsibilities Plan and deliver instruction aligned with New York State Social Studies Learning Standards. Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage diverse learners. Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations. Maintain a positive classroom environment that supports learning and respectful dialogue. Integrate technology and current events into instruction. Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities. Support district initiatives and collaborate with colleagues. Minimum Qualifications New York State Teaching Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7–12) required. Those nearing completion of certification may be considered. Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Education, or related field. Strong knowledge of NYS learning standards and instructional practices. Effective classroom management and communication skills. Salary and Benefits Salary according to the General Brown Teachers’ Association contract and experience.
