Garrison Union Free School District Start Date: September 28, 2026, to June 24, 2027 Position Type: Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Leave Replacement Certification Required: New York State Certification in Special Education Preferred: Elementary and Secondary School Certification Position Overview The Garrison Union Free School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Special Education Leave Replacement Teacher to join our collaborative learning community. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of special education best practices and a commitment to helping all students achieve high levels of academic and personal success. The ideal candidate believes that every child can learn and demonstrates the ability to provide multiple pathways for students to access rigorous instruction through thoughtful, strategic, and innovative teaching practices. Qualifications Candidates should possess: Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); Ability to administer educational evaluations and utilize assessment data to inform eligibility determinations and instructional planning; Experience creating student-specific IEP goals informed by multiple data sources; Ability to collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, related service providers, and families to support implementation of students' IEPs; Experience developing and implementing appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities in a special class setting; Knowledge of applicable federal and New York State laws and regulations related to special education; Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Successful experience teaching students with varied readiness levels and learning profiles; Experience providing direct, multisensory reading instruction aligned to the Science of Reading and standards-based mathematics instruction; A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth; Strong interpersonal skills characterized by collegiality, approachability, adaptability, and collaboration.
