Fire Island School District is seeking a full-time permanent substitute teacher in its one elementary building for the 2024-2025 school year. This unique school in the beautiful Corneille Estates/Ocean Beach community educates children in grades PK-6 in multi-grade level classrooms. Approaches are child-centered, collaborative, and creative. We are seeking an inspiring educator to join our team to support daily instruction and to lead classes during professional development days or days of teacher absences.Qualified applicants will possess valid teaching certificates covering regular classroom elementary/early childhood grade levels. PK-6 students within small double-grade classrooms (PK-K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6). The school is located in the Corneille Estates section of Fire Island just outside Ocean Beach, and the district provides bus transportation for employees from Captree Boat Basin during the school year. School hours are 8:00 to 2:35pm. In July and August the school is accessible via the Bay Shore – Ocean Beach ferry.
