Summary: The Behavior Support Specialist employed at Finn Academy: An Elmira Charter School, under the direct supervision of the School Leader and working as a member of the RtI and KidTalk teams, provides a variety of strategies and techniques to serve at-risk behavioral scholars behavior support in accordance with their individualized needs.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. GeneralImplement behavioral strategies and program modifications in accordance with scholar’s individual needs.Assist teachers in implementing behavior support plans and behavior intervention plans.Support in the collection and analysis of data on scholar behavior.Provide descriptions of behavior in observable and measurable terms.Participate as a member of the Response to Intervention and KidTalk Teams.Provide reinforcement to scholars as they engage in appropriate behavior.Implement all necessary procedures to support scholars in the learning environment.Assist in crisis and/or emergency procedures according to protocol.Regularly attend a variety of meetings and/or training sessions.Provide program input, demonstrate program procedures, and follow or implement program recommendations.Perform clerical duties and related work as required.Work effectively and maintain a professional rapport with teachers, students, and other staff members.Support School Leader in responding to lower-level behavioral infractions.Support the school’s positive consequence system.Make referrals to community agencies.Participate in transition planning for students.Conduct home visits/family needs assessments.Facilitate classroom, small group, and individual instruction focused on social-emotional and behavioral skills development.Expand and exchange knowledge through consultation and collaboration with coordinators, specialists, counselors, and other colleagues.Other duties as assigned.Mission AlignmentPromote behavioral and social-emotional learning that supports all scholars in their work to gain the skills necessary to become lifelong learners and well-rounded individualsTake risks, build collegial trust, strive for wellness, and seek, offer, and accept helpDemonstrate integrityManage time productively and utilize resources respectfullyPursue personal lifelong learningHonor diversity and seek multiple perspectivesHonor all children and families with respectful communicationFamily and Community EngagementParticipate in conferences and parent/guardian meetings as needed.Communicate frequently, honestly, and respectfullyEngage technology and social media professionallyPlan accordingly to participate and attend school eventsSeek input and feedback from scholars. and familiesCollaborate with community partnersHonor scholar learning
