The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification: English Language Arts or Social Studies 7-12 Certificate (Initial, Professional) or equivalentNew York State Certification: School District Leader or equivalentExperience: Competitive candidates will have at least five years of teaching experience and at least two years of school leadership experience The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities: Knowledge of New York State Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Arts and New York State K-12 Social Studies FrameworkExperience designing and facilitating professional development workshops for teachers and the ability to evaluate the impact of such work on student achievementCommitment to continuous learning as evidenced by ongoing participating in professional development, collegial and professional organizations and/or graduate-level courseworkExceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to leverage data and feedback to improve the pedagogical practices of teachersUnderstanding of curriculum design and the ability to organize expectations, units, and materials to ensure vertical and horizontal alignmentFamiliarity with Project Based LearningA commitment to our Kids First philosophy The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities, which are subject to change: Lead professional development workshops and facilitate outside professional learning opportunities for teachersSupervise and evaluate teachers across two elementary schoolsProvide direct support and supervision to the English Language Arts and Social Studies departments at the junior/senior high schoolEngage in ongoing professional coaching of classroom teachersCollaborate with the district’s literacy coach at the elementary schools to ensure successful integration of reading skill building with English Language Arts and Social Studies contentDevelop district-wide initiatives to improve outcomes for students through data analysis and needs assessmentsParticipate in building and district level committees, teams and cabinet meetings The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package which is established in the East Rockaway Administrator’s Association Contract for the 2025-26 school year.
