The successful candidate will have appropriate training, experience, and hold required NYSED certification. The Library Media Specialist will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure that the library is an integral part of the instructional program and aligns with the districts Strategic Plan.Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the librarySupports programs and actions that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning and an orderly, purposeful environmentCreates an environment that embraces 21st century technology, and learningCollaborate with classroom teachers as partners in the instructional processEvaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learningPromote the ethical use of information including cyber safetyPromote instructional technology to improve learningProven ability to lead students through the research processFoster a creative, flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part of the learning communityPlans and administers the library budget in such a way that it supports and enriches the curriculum of the schoolActs as a resource person to assist teachers in the planning and implementing of units of studySupervises library aideAdheres to policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education policies and administrative regulationsActively participates in professional organizations, disseminates ideas and information to other professionalsProvides leadership in identifying new methods and opportunities that benefit both the library program and the districtFulfills any other responsibility assigned by his/her supervisor/administrator or central office administration Apply on line by September 30, 2022, at www.olasjobs.org/longislandNOTE: Previous applicants need not reapplyThe East Rockaway Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer.
