The successful candidate will have appropriate training, experience, and hold required NYSED certification. The Library Media Specialist will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure that the library is an integral part of the instructional program and aligns with the districts Strategic Plan.Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library• Supports programs and actions that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning and an orderly, purposeful environment• Creates an environment that embraces 21st century technology and learning• Collaborate with classroom teachers as partners in the instructional process• Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning• Promote the ethical use of information including cyber safety• Promote instructional technology to improve learning• Proven ability to lead students through the research process• Foster a creative, flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part of the learning community• Plans and administers the library budget in such a way that it supports and enriches the curriculum of the school• Acts as a resource person to assist teachers in the planning and implementing of units of study• Supervises library aide• Adheres to policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education policies and administrative regulations• Actively participates in professional organizations, disseminates ideas and information to other professionals• Provides leadership in identifying new methods and opportunities that benefit both the library program and the district• Fulfills any other responsibility assigned by his/her supervisor/administrator or central office administrationApply on line by June 30, 2023, at www.olasjobs.org/longislandThe East Rockaway Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer.Address Cover letter to:Mr. Richard SchafferPrincipalEast Rockaway Jr./Sr. High school443 Ocean AvenueEast Rockaway, NY 11518
