Job Title: School Counselors (Secondary)Location: East Ramapo Central School District, Spring Valley, NYJob Type: Full-Time (10-Month Position)Position OverviewThe East Ramapo Central School District is seeking dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Counselors. The ideal candidates will support the academic, social, and emotional development of students in grades 7-12, ensuring equitable access to counseling services for our diverse student population.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individual and group counseling to address academic, career, and personal/social development.Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs that promote student achievement.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student learning and development.Assist students with course selection, college and career planning, and post-secondary transitions.Facilitate communication between the school and families.Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in school counseling.Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district policies and legal requirements.QualificationsValid New York State School Counselor Certification (Provisional or Permanent).Experience working with secondary-level students in an educational setting.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.Preferred QualificationsBilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole (Preferred).Familiarity with Naviance and other college and career readiness tools.Experience with diverse student populations and culturally responsive practices.To be considered for this position, please submit your resume and cover letter through olasjobs.org platform.
