Job Posting: School Community Liaison Assistant (Spanish-Speaking)Position Type: Full-Time, School-BasedStart Date: ImmediatelyApplication Deadline: Until the position is filledThe East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a dedicated, bilingual School Community Liaison Assistant (Spanish-Speaking) to support the success of our diverse student population and their families. This position plays a vital role in fostering communication and collaboration between Hispanic Spanish-speaking families and our school community.Key Responsibilities:Translate written materials and conversations between English and Spanish to facilitate communication among students, families, teachers, and staff.Interpret for Spanish-speaking families during meetings with school personnel.Support school outreach efforts by contacting families regarding attendance, academic progress, and available programs and services.Assist in the development of bilingual newsletters and communication tools.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community agencies to monitor student progress and coordinate appropriate referrals.Maintain records and prepare related reports.Support staff development on Hispanic culture and language integration.Promote greater engagement of Hispanic families in school and P.T.A. initiatives.Organize and participate in informal meetings with Hispanic families, acting as a translator as needed.Assist educators in incorporating Hispanic culture and language into instruction.Help create basic Spanish vocabulary tools for staff use.Liaise with community leaders to encourage Hispanic family participation in extracurricular and community activities.Support students facing challenges by collaborating with guidance and support staff.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications (must meet one of the following):High school diploma or equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience in liaison work involving public or private agencies and the general public (50% or more of job responsibilities); ORAssociate's degree or higher in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field. Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Fluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written.Strong knowledge of the Hispanic community and culture.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to build cooperative relationships with students, families, staff, and community organizations.Understanding of school programs, services, and community resources.Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
