Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services The East Ramapo Central School District seeks a leader to serve as its Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services. The Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services is a member of the District Leadership Team and works collaboratively with district/building administrators, Assistant Directors of Special Education and the Pupil Personnel Services staff. Applicants should be well versed in Federal and State Special Education laws. The Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. Qualifications: 1. Must hold Master’s Degree or above 2. New York State certification as School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) 3. Experience as a Special Education teacher (min 5 years) and Special Education administrator (min 3 years) 4. Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptableCommitment to academic excellence for all children; Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills;Experience in the evaluation and development of special education and related service personnel; Ability to identify areas of need, collaboratively solve problems, and develop improvement plans;Experience chairing CSE, CPSE, and 504 meetings;Knowledge of Federal and State Special Education Law and Policy. Reports: To the Superintendent of Schools Supervises: All Certificated and Civil Service staff members reporting to Office of Student Support Services.Position Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, implement, administer, staff, and maintain the school district's pupil personnel programs and services in the areas of special education, psychology, related services, and social work in conjunction with district policies and vision;Coordinate and supervise assistive technology for students with disabilities;Assist with PPS/Special Education hiring process; Ability to develop and implement professional development for staff;Share supervision with building administrators of district's special education teachers, related service providers, school psychologists, and school social workers; Review and coordinate all out of district placements for the school district;Prepare and oversee budget related to pupil personnel programs and staffing;Participation in impartial hearings, manifestation meetings, and the mediation/resolution process as required; Oversee special education extended year summer program;Responsible for completing NYSED annual special education data reports and other relevant reports as required; Responsible for completing and overseeing 611/619 grants, including VR and indicator reports, and filing state aid documents;Oversee the intake process for out-of-district tuition paying students;Work with contracted medical professionals to ensure compliance with BOE policies, state education and county health policies; Oversee School Nurses and medical needs of the district including health services;Liaison to collective bargaining units and part of the district negotiating team.Salary is regionally competitive
