Job Posting: Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Teachers – ReadingPosition Type: Full-Time (Elementary and Secondary Levels)Location: East Ramapo Central School DistrictStart Date: As soon as possible Application Deadline: Open until filledJob Summary:The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking dedicated and passionate Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Reading Teachers to provide targeted literacy support to students at the elementary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will deliver focused instruction to students who need additional assistance in developing foundational reading skills, comprehension strategies, and overall reading confidence. This position requires close collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff to implement data-driven, research-based interventions tailored to student needs.Responsibilities:Provide small-group and one-on-one reading interventions to students identified as needing academic support.Apply data-driven instructional strategies to address gaps in reading fluency, comprehension, and phonemic awareness.Assess and monitor student progress using both formal and informal measures, adjusting instruction as necessary.Collaborate with general education, special education, and intervention teams to ensure alignment with core instruction.Implement research-based interventions to enhance literacy development and foster a love of reading.Use a variety of instructional materials, literacy programs, and technology to support and engage learners.Maintain open communication with parents and guardians to promote literacy development at home.Keep detailed records of student progress and participate in team meetings focused on data review and instructional planning.Qualifications:Required Certification:New York State Certification in Literacy (Birth–Grade 6, Grades 5–9, or Grades 7–12)Preferred experience in reading intervention or literacy instruction in a school setting.Deep understanding of effective reading intervention strategies, the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), and best practices in literacy instruction.Ability to interpret assessment data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Salary and Benefits:Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
