Position OverviewThe East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a compassionate, community-focused Family Resource Center Coordinator I to support children and families from birth through school age. This Civil Service position involves developing, coordinating, and evaluating programs that strengthen family engagement, support child development, and connect families to community resources. Work is performed under the supervision of school principals or district administrators, with occasional guidance to volunteers.This role requires flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and the ability to travel to schools, neighborhoods, and homes as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing the Family Resource Center’s operational plan and goalsConduct outreach through newsletters, presentations, events, and home visitsBuild and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies (e.g., DSS)Plan/lead programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (e.g., story hours)Coordinate youth development programs with school staff or external partnersEngage with students informally and on an as-needed basisSupport back-to-school nights and other school-community engagement eventsResearch and coordinate parent education programsProvide families with information and referral services tailored to their needsBuild supportive relationships with families and connect them to school-based resourcesAddress parent and community concerns related to Family Resource Center activitiesProvide case management services, monitor student/family status, and make referralsSupport early childhood initiatives including kindergarten transitions, literacy programs, and home visitsServe as liaison with early childhood providers and community agenciesGather and maintain records (attendance, demographics, engagement data, etc.)Perform related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Candidates must meet one of the following:High school diploma or equivalency and two (2) years of experience engaging with families, children, or youth in settings such as family support, childcare, camp counseling, social services, community programs, or educationORRelevant volunteer experience demonstrating leadership and meaningful engagement with children and familiesORAssociate’s degree or higher in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field (fully qualifying)Preferred Skills and AbilitiesStrong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationshipsAbility to collaborate with school leadership and staffKnowledge of community resources and outreach strategiesAbility to plan, organize, and coordinate school-community programsClear and effective communication skillsEmpathy and understanding of diverse family needsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to guide volunteersCultural competency and ability to work with diverse populationsSPECIAL REQUIREMENT:Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation for community and home visitsSalary: Salary is determined according to district salary schedules and candidate experience.Benefits:Health and dental insurancePaid time offRetirement benefitsPaid holidaysProfessional development opportunitiesHow to Apply: Interested candidates should submit the following:A completed application form (available at District Website or through Olasjobs.org).A current resume.A cover letter detailing qualifications and experience.Copies of any relevant certifications.
