Position Summary:The Director of Secondary Academic Operations is responsible for the effective coordination and implementation of master scheduling across the District’s middle and high schools, oversight of secondary summer school programming, and support for high school-level assessment administration. This leader ensures that academic operations are aligned with District goals, State requirements, and student achievement priorities.Primary Responsibilities:Develop, manage, and support the annual master scheduling process for all secondary schools (3 middle schools, 2 high schools), ensuring equity in course offerings and instructional time.Collaborate with principals, guidance departments, and curriculum leaders to align course scheduling with instructional priorities, graduation requirements, and student needs.Lead the planning and execution of secondary summer school programs, including site selection, staffing, budgeting, curriculum planning, and compliance with NYSED requirements.Assist with the administration of Regents, PSAT, SAT, NYS Assessments, and other standardized tests at the high school level, including logistics, staffing, and security protocols.Analyze and report on scheduling data to inform decisions about staffing, class sizes, course offerings, and student outcomes.Ensure compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) mandates and reporting requirements related to scheduling, summer programming, and assessments.Serve as a liaison between the Office of Secondary Education and school counselors, building testing coordinators, and program directors.Support the implementation of academic recovery and acceleration programs throughout the school year and summer.Collaborate with Human Resources and Curriculum & Instruction to align staffing, certification, and course availability.Coordinate professional development for school-based scheduling teams and summer program staff.Monitor and respond to student enrollment patterns, course demand, and academic intervention needs.Partner with technology and student information systems teams to optimize the use of platforms like SchoolTool, PowerSchool, or Infinite Campus for scheduling and assessment.Participate in the District Leadership Team to contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.Qualifications:New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School Building Leader (SBL) Certification required.Master’s degree in Education, Educational Administration, or related field.Minimum of five years of experience in secondary education, including administrative experience.Demonstrated knowledge of secondary academic programming, scheduling systems, student services, and NYS graduation requirements.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Preferred Experience:Experience managing or coordinating school master scheduling at a district or building level.Familiarity with academic data systems, assessment coordination, and summer learning models.
