Job Posting: Groundsworker and Motor Equipment Operator II (Schools)Position: Groundsworker and Motor Equipment Operator II Location: East Ramapo Central School District Schedule: Full-Time Salary: Based on experience and district guidelinesAbout the Role: The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a skilled and dedicated Groundsworker and Motor Equipment Operator II to join our team. This role combines grounds maintenance with the operation of motorized equipment, including vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of over 26,000 pounds. The successful candidate will maintain school grounds, recreation areas, and equipment while safely operating various vehicles and machinery to support district needs.Key Responsibilities:Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming, seeding, fertilizing, and cleaning.Operate vehicles and equipment such as trucks, backhoes, snow plows, and trailers for hauling, excavation, and snow removal.Perform minor maintenance and repairs on tools, equipment, and vehicles.Conduct laboring tasks, including loading/unloading materials and routine maintenance of district facilities.Support seasonal activities such as snow removal, landscaping, and recreational setup.Assist with welding repairs and mechanical maintenance of vehicles and equipment.Follow safety protocols and carry out other assigned duties as required.Qualifications:Experience: At least three (3) years of motor vehicle driving experience, with six (6) months involving trucks over 26,000 pounds (GVWR) or at least two of the following: motor graders, front-end loaders, wheel loaders, street sweepers, rollers (over 6 tons), or small backhoes.Skills: Proficiency in operating trucks and equipment in confined spaces and following safety protocols. Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance, welding, and mechanical repairs.Abilities: Ability to use laboring tools, power mowers, snow blowers, and other equipment effectively.
