Our athletic, health, and physical education programs play a vital role in fostering student achievement, health, leadership, teamwork, and school spirit.Position SummaryThe Athletic Director & Supervisor of Physical Education will provide leadership and oversight for all district interscholastic athletic programs and K-12 physical education curriculum. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in athletic administration and physical education programming, and a commitment to student development, equity in sports, and promoting lifelong wellness.Key ResponsibilitiesAthletic Program Leadership & Development:Direct and manage all district athletic programs for elementary, middle and high schools.Develop and implement policies, procedures, and long-term strategic planning for athletics.Ensure compliance with all district, Section 1, NYSPHSAA, and state regulations. Physical Education Program Oversight:Supervise the K-12 Physical Education curriculum, ensuring alignment with New York State Learning Standards.Support and evaluate physical education teachers to promote high-quality instruction.Advocate for best practices in physical fitness, health, and wellness education. Coaching & Staff Supervision:Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff.Provide professional development and training for coaches, PE & health teachers.Foster positive, sports etiquette among athletes, coaches, and staff. Student-Athlete & Physical Education Development:Promote academic achievement, leadership, and personal growth for student-athletes.Monitor student eligibility, participation, and adherence to district and state athletic policies.Ensure all students receive a comprehensive and inclusive physical education experience that promotes lifelong health and wellness.Ensure students receive health courses in alignment NYSED standards. Budget & Facility Management:Develop and manage the athletic department and PE & health program budget.Oversee the maintenance and scheduling of athletic facilities, fields, gymnasiums, and equipment.Secure funding through sponsorships, grants, and booster club partnerships as needed. Community & Stakeholder Engagement:Act as a liaison between the district, parents, student-athletes, and the community.Foster positive relationships with local sports organizations and school leadership.Organize sports events, award ceremonies, and community engagement initiatives. QualificationsRequired:Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Physical Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.New York State School District Leader (SDL)Minimum of five (5) years of experience in athletic administration, physical education, or coaching.Demonstrated leadership experience in managing school athletic programs and PE curriculum.Preferred:Knowledge of NYSPHSAA, Section 1 athletic regulations, and NYS Physical Education Standards.Experience managing budgets, scheduling, and athletic event planning.Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in athletics and physical education.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance.Participation in the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS).Professional development and advancement opportunities.
