We are seeking a passionate and talented Art Teacher to help students explore their creativity and enhance their artistic skills.Position Summary: The Middle School Art Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging visual arts instruction to students in grades 6 through 8. The ideal candidate will inspire students to express themselves through various art forms and develop a strong understanding of artistic techniques, while also creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement an engaging visual arts curriculum that meets New York State Standards for Art Education.Teach a range of artistic techniques and mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art.Encourage students’ creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking through hands-on projects and discussions.Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment that embraces diversity and promotes student success.Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.Organize and participate in school-wide art exhibitions, events, and extracurricular activities.Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to enhance student learning and contribute to the school community.Maintain classroom supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized environment.Qualifications:New York State Certification in Visual Arts (required).Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field (Master’s preferred).Experience teaching art at the middle school level (preferred).Strong understanding of various art techniques, mediums, and tools.Excellent communication and classroom management skills.Ability to inspire and engage middle school students in creative exploration and artistic growth.A commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.Application Process: Interested candidates should submit the following:A current resumeA cover letter detailing qualifications and teaching philosophyCopies of certificationsTwo Professional referencesDeadline to Apply: Open until filledSalary & Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience and in accordance with the East Ramapo Central School District’s teacher salary schedule.
