Ensure the instructional program provides a guaranteed and viable curriculum, in the content area assigned, to give students access to a comprehensive, equitable, rigorous, and standards-based education reflective of the culturally sustaining and response framework. Major Responsibilities, Duties, and Attributes Instructional Leadership: Develops and monitors the School Comprehensive Education Plan to ensure that it meets the direct and expressed needs of the school community, all in service of the Strategic Academic and Fiscal Plan.Uses a deliberate school continuous improvement planning process to identify specific goals. These goals identified in the School Comprehensive Education Plan (SCEP) are shared, understood, and embraced by staff, parents, and students. The principal keeps staff, parents, and students apprised on the status of these goals and uses interim benchmarks to learn if strategies need to be adjusted to improve the likelihood of the goals being met. Principal regularly reviews and analyzes schoolwide, teacher, and student data to identify instructional trends and areas of need. When concerns are identified, develop action plans that lead to improved teacher practice and student performanceReviews and ensures lesson plan alignment to curriculum across major subject areas to ensure coherence, rigor, vertical alignment, and fidelity to state learning standards.Ensures student schedule and special programs are aligned to East Ramapo mission and visionEvaluates teachers and other staff in a fair and equitable manner using clear and consistent criteria; Hold teachers accountable for meeting a high bar for student performance including requirements for special education accommodations and IEP modificationsLead faculty to ensure that all staff are providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons, reasonable and effective daily homework, and regular and productive afterschool tutoring; Professional Development: Uses evidence collected from observations and student learning data to provide frequent real-time individualized, actionable feedback that teachers can use to improve practices. Principals ensure that feedback is incorporated into teacher practice to move the needle on student achievementPrioritizes adult learning and works to develop and facilitate just-in-time formal and informal support needed to ensure effective instruction in every classroom Safe, Distributive, Collaborative School CultureEstablish or strengthen a collaborative culture where all adults learn together, improve together, and celebrate togetherTeachers work in an open, transparent, data-driven and safe culture. The faculty displays a sense of collective responsibility, and relies on each other to develop and improve teaching.
