Education/Certification:Valid NYS teaching certificate in Reading or Literacy ( 5-12) or Literacy (All Grades) Experience and Qualifications:At least three years of successful teaching experience Position Goals:To support reading intervention and facilitate teacher learning aimed at narrowing grade-level reading disparities and accelerating reading proficiency, ultimately leading to improved student performance on New York State and Local Assessments. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Under the supervision of the school principal and the district's Reading representative, the Reading Teacher will:Develop and execute lesson plans that incorporate a wide range of reading strategies and activities tailored to the specific needs of targeted students, utilizing Star and Lexia data.Be able to interpret other sources of data to inform intervention strategies; Establish and enforce behavioral expectations and routines to maintain a conducive and restorative learning environment for all students.Define clear learning targets (LT) for all lessons, units, and projects, and effectively communicate these LT to students.Plan, deliver and assess instructional content for students requiring reading and writing intervention.Work with students in small groups and in classroom settings; Collaborate with teachers, as per an approved schedule from the principal, by offering coaching and modeling support.
