East Ramapo Central School District seeks to fill the Director of Smart Scholars and Guidance position with a dedicated and visionary leader who partners with school leaders and school counselors to ensure that all in the educational community are equipped to support students in acquiring college and career readiness skills and program expectations to improve student outcomes. The Smart Scholars Program provides students with the opportunity and preparation to accelerate the completion of their high school studies while earning a minimum of twenty-four transferable college credits simultaneously. The program is targeted at students who are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education. Students receive additional academic support from Rockland Community College partnerships and East Ramapo Central School District Teachers to ensure they are at grade level and ready to participate in rigorous high school and collegiate courses. The Smart Scholars concurrent enrollment program seeks to increase high school graduation and college completion rates while reducing student tuition costs due to the compressed time needed to complete college. The Director of Smart Scholars and Guidance: Supervises and administers a district-wide school counseling programSupervises and coordinates the College and Career Prep program.Supervises the design and delivery of the Smart Scholars Early College High School’s programsCoordinating K-12 student recruitment and services provided by current and future partner organizations.Engaging parents/caregiversOverseeing the project’s daily operation Acting on behalf of the East Ramapo Central School District (District), working with the district’s 7-12 schools, Rockland Community College, and small business/CBO partners to achieve the objectives of the Smart Scholars/ECHS program.Meeting frequently with Rockland Community College liaison and administrators, as well as high school and District administrators Being responsible for, but not limited to:Student Recruitment & EngagementOrganizingInformation sessions (forums) for students and parentsStudent trips to project partner organizations and companiesTracking current, future, and former student/cohort data for District and NY State reporting.Teacher Recruitment & EngagementOrganizing information sessions (forums) for TeachersGathering individual teacher informationTracking Teacher DataDefining, monitoring, and analyzing key performance metrics, monitoring the success of the program, as required by the grantFacilitating Smart Scholars steering committee meetingsHandling day-to-day operations of the Smart Scholars programPromoting a distinct college-going and identifiable Smart Scholars culture.
