Coordinator of Family and Community EngagementJob Goal: The Coordinator of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) proactively develops initiatives and brings together a wide array of services and resources to address the diverse needs of families in the East Ramapo Central School District through a community and interagency approach that supports the educational and social-emotional needs of students and their families with the aim of increasing graduation rates for all students in the school district. The Coordinator of FACE is responsible to:Job Responsibilities: Formally coordinates, collaborates and communicates FACE priorities with school leaders on a regular basisDevelops and coordinates district and school-based programs which encourage students to achieve success by enlisting their families and the communityPromotes evidence-based interventions that influence student attendance and home-school partnerships.Coordinates and collaborates with community stakeholders to ensure supportive learning environments for all students.Creates opportunities to engage all parents and families in the educational processDevelops communication pathways within Central Office and with the schools to support increased opportunities for parent, family and community engagement.Supports parents by providing district information and addressing individual parent requests.Collaborates with the administrators in the Office of Special Student Services to foster positive relations with local, county and state agencies to support students, staff and parent needs.Creates or enhances existing parent or family advisory groups at the district level and the building level resulting in empowered stakeholders in district programs.Assists building level administrators and the Family Resource Coordinators in the recruitment of parent volunteers for the purpose of assisting the schools with their activities.Implements a comprehensive needs assessment of school and district family and community engagement needs and design a coordinated improvement plan based on needs.Collaborates with the Registration Office to work with students and families new to the community.Develops and delivers professional development programs to both district and school staff as well as community partners on strategies to engage families in the support of their child’s social, emotional, and behavioral needs.Provides reports or statistics to the Superintendent on departmental activities.Authors a district-wide newsletter that highlights key information to be communicatedTakes an active role in organizing the content and implementation of Family UniversityAttends Board meetings and workshops as assigned by the SuperintendentPerforms other duties and assumes other responsibilities as required by the Superintendent.Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Student ServicesQualificationsNew York State School District Administrator Certification (SDA) Master’s Degree in Social WorkMinimum of three years’ experience with the development and implementation of successful parent and community engagement strategies for school districtsSpanish bilingual strongly preferred
