We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Program Director for the district’s Expanded School Year Summer Program. The Program Director will ensure that programming is delivered successfully by assisting in the planning and development of the program, support and supervise staff, monitoring program performance, maintaining inventory, overseeing the arrival & departure of students and overseeing operations at their assigned program site to ensure all safety standards and regulations are met.Program OutcomesTo improve academic competencies of students (academic)To offer opportunities for student to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. (social emotional learning)To provide families with engaging and quality summer learning experiences for their children (attendance) Expanded School Year Summer ProgramsAdventure Academy (entering Grades 1-3); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayAt the Expeditionary Adventure Academy every day is a new learning experience with daily rotations related to overarching weekly themes. Students will be provided with interactive learning opportunities, journaling, & peer-discussion groups, while addressing Social-Emotional Learning, & using a growth mindset approach to enrich all students. Great for elementary students who have an interest in science & nature in the outdoors! All Sports Academy (entering Grades 4-8); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThis interdisciplinary program is designed to meet the academic & fitness needs of our young people. Students in grades 4-6 will focus on increasing movement literacy by experiencing a variety of physical activities & games that will contribute to an active & healthy lifestyle. In addition, students will be introduced to individual & team sports offered at East Ramapo CSD.Computer Science Academy (entering Grade 1-8); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThis institute is hands-on, experiential learning with a focus on the cognitive skills to build student capacity to become innovators, creators, & critical thinkers. Fine and Performing Arts Academy (entering Grades 1-12); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayIn addition to music tutoring & lessons, the Fine & Performing Arts Academy program will grow the academic capacity of students through an artistic lens. Culminating demonstrations of learning range from musical concerts to performing or theatrical creations, or poetry. Freshman Academy (entering Grade 9); July 10-August 17; Monday-ThursdayThe Freshman Academy program will provide both academic and emotional support for students entering high school through orientation activities, assistance with study skills and organizational habits, and proactive postsecondary-planning guidance to support students throughout high school. Students will also learn social-emotional skills, identify personal behaviors that may affect their success in high school, and identify and reflect on their goals for the future. Qualifications NYS teaching certification 5 years of experience in education Proven experience as a program leader in an educational setting Programing Integrated “Arts” Experience Experience, preferably in education field associated with program of interest Familiarity with Google applications, spreadsheets and basic program management Proven success in solving challenges in program implementation in ways that are resourceful and respectful Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities Excellent management of conflict in the workplace and school setting by effectively applying conflict resolution strategies and confronting issues as they arise Collaborative leadership style Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusionPre-Program Responsibilities Attend pre-program preparation and planning meetings with ESY Programs Coordinator to Create program calendar and checklist Hire instructors Review and modify program outcomes and curriculum Provide budget requests for program materials, supplies, and activities and inventory spreadsheets Prepare building-specific orientation slide deck for staff training and learning including conducting staff training events Visit site Coordinate room placement needs Create bussing structures to receive students and send students home Program Responsibilities Reports to the ESY Programs Coordinator Oversee program operations Supervises and directs staff Facilitates the purchase and distribution of resources and materials to support the program Conducts meeting with staff as needed during the program; facilitates staff orientation Initials instructor and staff vouchers for payment Interacts daily with staff regarding academic issues and progress related to program Works within approved budget Clearly aligns efforts to meet program objectives and measurable outcomes Maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding program updates and progress. Organization of breakfast and lunch distribution Monitor daily attendance Supervises secretaries Monitors student and staff daily attendance Facilitates student and staff end of program survey Supports and coordinates pre and post assessments that couple ESY Program to the academic school year Maintains positive relationships with parents Updates inventory and delivery of all program materials that go into storage in coordination with the ESY District Coordinator Coordinates student bus arrivals, transitions, and dismissal Oversight of input and analysis of student academic data Emergency point of contact for district administration Supports scheduling of student end of program surveys Supports the coordination of pre and post-assessments Maintains proactive and positive relationships with parents Answers inquiries (in-person, via email or via phone) in a timely fashion Adhere to NYSPHSAA Heat Index Procedures for outdoor activities Heat Index for Cabinet Review Perform additional/related duties as assigned by the ESY District Coordinator Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes Dates/Days/HoursPreparation and Planning: Not to exceed 30 hours prior to start of the programProgram: July 6 -August 18; Monday to Thursday and Friday, August 19 close outSalaryPreparation and Planning: $35/hour, not to exceed 30 hoursProgram: $8,640 stipend
