Elmsford Union Free School District, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Aide to join our supportive educational team. This is a vital non-instructional role focused on supporting the classroom teacher and helping to maintain a positive, and engaging learning environment for all students. Key Responsibilities The Teacher Aide will perform essential duties under the general supervision of the classroom teacher and school administration. Your role will be focused on maximizing student learning time by assisting with classroom flow and non-teaching duties. Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Classroom Support: Assist the teacher with daily routines, help organize and prepare instructional materials (e.g., photocopying, setting up equipment, creating bulletin boards), and maintain a clean and orderly learning environment. Student Supervision: Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and in common areas such as the playground, cafeteria, hallways, and while loading/unloading buses. Clerical and Administrative Tasks: Assist the teacher with routine record-keeping, such as taking attendance, collecting forms, correcting standardized objective tests, and compiling student records. Student Assistance (Non-Instructional): Provide general guidance and support to students, helping them stay on task, find materials, and follow classroom procedures. This may include attending to the physical needs of students (e.g., helping with coats, personal belongings) or aiding students with special needs as directed by the teacher. Behavioral Support: Support the teacher in implementing classroom management and discipline routines to foster a safe and respectful school climate. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience working with elementary-aged children in a school or childcare setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, take initiative, and work collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Patience, flexibility, dependability, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with young students. Successful completion of all required background checks and child safety clearances.
