The Edgemont Union Free School District is now accepting applications for a secondary (grades 7-12) orchestra leave replacement position with responsibility of teaching small group lessons and full rehearsals. The leave replacement will start August 26th and stay through at least December 23, 2025. The successful candidate will have a strong pedagogical background in string instrument performance and instruction, with performance concentration in low strings (cello or bass) a plus. NYS Music K-12 Certification (or equivalent) required. Candidates will demonstrate passion for teaching and exceptional performance skills on primary instruments and should be comfortable conducting large ensembles, as they will prepare students for the annual Winter Concert. Other important traits include awareness of current educational best-practices for inclusion, strong interest in working collaboratively as part of the department and wider school community, an adaptable and coachable mindset, as well as organizational skills. The successful candidate will join a team of passionate music educators who have each built impressive programs within their respective disciplines. The music department presents several performances each year, has a high level of participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, and a high ratio of students selected for county and statewide honors ensembles.
